A fundraising event will be held this Friday Maumelle resident, Jon David Bruning, who was injured in a recent accident. The event will be held at the Maumelle Country Club from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

J.D., as his friends and family call him, is the son of Jacki and Dave Bruning of Maumelle. He is the grandson of Charleen Akins, also of Maumelle.

Bruning, 22, was injured in a diving accident on July 6 while floating the Elk River in Missouri causing extensive damage to the vertebrae in his neck.

Charity Vance, a former Arkansas Baptist School alum and local singer who has been wowing audiences since age 9, will also appear at the Rally Round JD event.

In early 2010, her music received extensive coverage on Season 9 of the hit FOX series American Idol, where she first wowed the judges in Chicago with her rendition of “Summertime.”

Soon after American Idol, the Little Rock native headed into the studio with Nashville-based production team ZodLounge.

She now lives in Nashville where she is involved in the music video business and continues to pursue her singing career. For a preview of her music, visit charityvance.net.

Donations can be made at any Bank of the Ozarks location with a check to “The Jon David Bruning Special Needs Trust” or by visiting www. jdbfoundation.org to make a credit card donation.
