A smooth start can make or break a new business. To help Arkansans who want to open a business, the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center is offering a free, four-part webinar series in August.
Each webinar, or online seminar, will look at a different facet of the business start-up process:
• Aug. 4, “Starting a Business in Arkansas” - A broad overview of what starting a business entails, including start-up requirements and common pitfalls.
• Aug. 11, “To the Point Business Plan” - A simple business plan format that entrepreneurs can use to describe their concept, evaluate the competition, determine risks and estimate costs.
• Aug. 18, “Small Business Financing Options” - A broad overview of sources of funding for prospective (and existing) businesses, credit requirements and the Small Business Administration’s loan guaranty program.
• Aug. 25, “Marketing Techniques for Small Business” - A look at popular marketing techniques and best practices, accompanied by suggestions for businesses with small budgets.
The sessions will begin at noon and last one hour. Pre-registration is required. See asbtdc.org/starting-series for details and registration.
The center also recently released “License, Permit, & Tax Requirements for Arkansas Small Businesses,” an ebook for new and prospective business owners. From local zoning to state sales and use tax to federal labor laws, this free resource covers 15 important topics. It is available for download at asbtdc.org.
