Fireworks keep Police Department busy

The Maumelle Police Department received three calls in reference to fireworks being discharged on July 3, said Police Chief Sam Williams.

The department received 21 such calls on July 4, with two before 4:30 p.m., four calls during the legal hours and 15 calls after the 10:30 p.m.

Williams also said his officers worked six calls on Saturday, July 5 and one on Sunday, July 6.

No citations were written for violation of the fireworks ordinance, and no reports of injuries were reported.
