Council meets, approves conditional use

The Maumelle City Council met Monday night and quickly took care of business.

With only one item of new business on the agenda, the Council unanimously approved a conditional use permit for 301 Millwood Circle.

The business there, Elite Adult Day Care Center, is new to the city and the permit was needed because the area is zoned C-3.

The address had previously hosted another adult day care center, but when it closed the conditional use permit it had, expired.

The permit had also been unanimously approved at a planning commission meeting earlier this month.

Mayor Mike Watson also noted that a meeting would be held on Monday, July 29 to discuss Maumelle Water Management. The meeting will be held in the City Council chambers.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the City Council will be on Monday, Aug. 5.

The meeting is set to start at 6 p.m.

No burn ban

While the city of North Little Rock declared a burn ban on Monday, Maumelle has not yet followed suit, said Fire Chief George Glenn.

Glenn said that the city follows Pulaski County’s lead and that they hadn’t called for one.

Given the lack of precipitation, Glenn said a burn ban could be coming for Maumelle, just not yet.
