Chamber executive director completes economic development course

Julianne Cole, executive director of the Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce, recently completed the Mid-South Basic Economic Development Course at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She joined 31 other participants from five different states in the four-day program. Offered annually in the spring, the Mid-South Basic Course provides an intensive overview of the process and practice of local economic development. It features over 20 instructors who are recognized experts in their fields. It is one of 30 such courses accredited by the International Economic Development Council.

According to Dr. Ron Swager, Course Director, “Julianne was an outstanding participant who contributed to the success of this year’s course. She shows great potential as a player in the economic development process.” By completing the course, Cole is better prepared to assist efforts to foster community and economic development. She also is qualified to attend a series of advanced training courses, ultimately leading to eligibility for designation as a Certified Economic Developer.

Cole said she was grateful to get to attend the class.
