On (and in) Golden Pond

Mayor Mike Watson proclaimed last Friday’s innaugural Coardboard Boat Race a “success” Monday night.

The race was sponsored by the Maumelle Area Chamber of Commerce and modeled after a similar race at Heber Springs.

“The biggest disappointment I heard,” Watson said,” was not enough [boats] sank.”

A crowd of around 500 watched the races, that took place on Lake Willastein and went 75 feet.

Aided by some spectacular weather, Maumelle’s 4th Fest also enjoyed larged crowds, Watson said.
