Spotlight On The Arts | The Maumelle Players Have a Home!

The Maumelle Players have a home! After a short period of homelessness, The Maumelle Players have developed a partnership with Little Scholars Academy of Maumelle. Not only have The Maumelle Players found a home for at least two years, but they are joined by the Maumelle Children’s Community Theatre, whose last production was The Pied Piper in 2007. Michael and Amanda Johnson of Little Scholars Academy have been most welcoming of both theatres and all groups are looking forward to working together.

The productions will be held at their East Campus which is located at 10910 Maumelle Boulevard. The Maumelle Children’s Community Theatre (MCCT) will do a production in July of this year and The Maumelle Players will have their first production in October of this year.

MCCT will be presenting a musical, The Emperor’s New Clothes by Karen Boettcher-Tate with music and lyrics by Bill Francoeur. Auditions for the show will be June 1st from 1-3 p.m. at the Jess Odom Community Center at 1100 Edgewood Drive in Maumelle. 1st through 12th graders are encouraged to audition. Come prepared to sing and read some lines from the script.

Rehearsals will be during the daytime in June and early July (Mon/Wed/Fri). You must be able to attend ALL rehearsals. Performances will be July 5-7. You can also get more information on the MCCT Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/MaumelleCCT. Adult or older teenagers are needed as volunteers to help with set design & construction, stage managers, lighting/sound crews, assistant directors, makeup, costumes, and more. Contact Denise or contact MCCT on Facebook if you have any special skills. A website is under construction and will be part of www.maumelleplayers.org.
