If your thirst for thespians has not been quenched by The Maumelle Players production, then you can find more live theater entertainment right here in Maumelle as the Maumelle High School presents their production of “Grease.” You can catch it on April 26 or 27 at the Maumelle High School Auditorium. Tickets are $7 for non-students and $5 for students. You can call the high school at 851-5250 for more information. There is no need to get tickets in advance.
The directing team of Mary Ann Lunsford, Bob Birdsong and others are excited about the work the students have done on this popular musical. Musical Director is Jennifer Boccarossa, a renowned soloist in the Little Rock area. Alex Spugnardi is the student director and choreographer of “Grease.” She has a love of theater and has appeared in numerous high school productions. She is excited about this opportunity to choreograph such a well-known musical.
Carl Mouton, Band Director, brings his expertise in conducting the live band for this production.
The technical aspects of the show are also stunning. Bob Birdsong has an extensive resume in theater and in teaching young people the art of stagecraft. This is his 7th production of “Grease.” They have acquired a real 1951 Mercury to use in the “Greased Lightning” number. For many of us who are old enough to remember the stage musical in 1971 or the movie musical in 1978 (John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John), we can sit back and reminisce to songs like “Grease”, “Summer Nights”, “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You’re The One That I Want”. Come support our youth of the Maumelle High School in their production of “Grease.” More on “Grease” next week!
