Pie Cook Renata Duncan, left, displays a coconut meringue pie with Jeana Whitley, owner of B J’s Market Cafe which opened in the old Kierre location and will be open for business each day from 5:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday’s and Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The original B J’s in Prothro Junction’s Farmer’s Market has been known for decades for its home-style food but especially for the mouth watering pies like the one shown above. Whitley and her husband David have operated that cafe for almost 30 years. She said the weekend fare will specialize in catfish and smoked ribs. Duncan will continue to bake pies for both locations. The restaurant opened with 15 employees, many holdovers from Kierre’s days but they still have a few positions to fill.
