Our speaker for January was Herb Sanderson, AARP’s Arkansas Associate State Director for Advocacy. He gave an interesting talk on proposed changes to Social Security and Medicare. He also swore in our new officers and committee chairs for 2013.

Sanderson was director of the Arkansas state office on Aging for several decades.

We are looking forward to another exciting year. The next chapter meeting will be on Valentine’s day, Feb. 14 at 6 p.m. Our breakfast social will be on Feb. 19 at 9 a.m. at Bobby’s Café, 12230 Mac Arthur Drive, North Little Rock. Our dinner social will be at Franke’s Cafeteria, 11121 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.. These are great times to get to know our members in a relaxed setting.

All seniors in the Maumelle area are invited to come and join us. We are a very active community service organization for people over 50 years of age, working to serve the community needs by volunteer work and financial support. We hold a monthly meeting featuring a program of interest to the group plus pot lucks, picnics, outings, etc. Come Thursday Feb. 14 to the Maumelle Senior Wellness Center at 550 Edgewood Drive, Maumelle.
