JACKSONVILLE SOFTBALL

The Jacksonville Lady Red Devils softball team had no trouble dispatching the Little Rock McClellan Lady Lions 17-0 at Dupree Park on Tuesday.

Jacksonville jumped all over McClellan in the first inning, establishing a 12-0 lead early in the game.

The second inning was a little slower for the Lady Devils, scoring a relatively small five runs.

The Lady Red Devils didn’t need to bat in the bottom of the third inning, thanks to the 15-run mercy rule after three innings.

From the pitcher’s circle, Kimberly House got out of a first inning jam after a strikeout and two walks. The first walk ended with the runner gunned down stealing, while the second Lady Lions to walk got caught n a rundown and was tagged for the third out.

House settled in over the next two innings, striking out four and not allowing a base runner to secure the win.

Leadoff Lady Devil Morgan Lloyd reached base on a single, walk and error and scored all three times. House carried the big stick, helping herself out with a single, two doubles and three runs for Jacksonville.

Emily Lovercheck banged out a pair of singles and scored both times for the Lady Devils.

Jacksonville is expecting a much tougher road to wins in upcoming games. The Lady Devils play in the North Pulaski tournament this weekend, then travel to take on a very good Sylvan Hills squad on Tuesday.
