Jacksonville let Bryant climb back into the game, but the Red Devils held on for a 65-63 win over the Hornets in the John Stanton Invitational Tournament at Conway.
The Red Devils led by as many as 13 points in the fourth quarter before the Hornets pulled within one with two minutes to play.
Jacksonville and Bryant were tied at halftime, but Jacksonville built up the lead during the third quarter thanks to Devin Campbell and Sergio Berkley. Campbell led the Red Devils with 18 points, while Berkley scored 14 in the win.
Free throws by Campbell and LaQuawn Smith with 30 seconds left in the game put Jacksonville up by six points. Smith hit another pair of big free throws following a Bryant three-pointer. A half court shot by the Hornets set the final margin.
The win was good for seventh place in the tournament. Jacksonville had double-digit leads in each of the first two tournament games, but allowed late rallies to suffer losses.
The Red Devils will be back on the court this Friday when they host the Hot Springs Trojans for the final game before Christmas break.
