Pulaski County home sales up in August

Home sales in Pulaski County increased 17.2 percent in August, while statewide there was an increase of 4.9 percent, according to a report by the Arkansas Realtors Association.

The ARA reported that statewide home sales rose from 2,273 in August 2012 to 2,819 in August 2013. Year-to-date figures for the state were also up 12.74 percent.

In Pulaski County, 423 homes were sold this August, compared to 361 in August 2012, according to the ARA report.

For the year to date, sales were also up. The report indicated 3,025 homes have been sold in Pulaski County, compared to 2,795 sales by the same month in 2012.

The total value of the homes sold in Pulaski County was up 10.6 percent for the month, compared year over year, increasing from $75 million to $83 million. Year-to-date home sale values were up 10.8 percent, according to the report, increasing from $528 million in 2012 to $586 million in 2013. The statewide year-to-date total was $2.9 billion.

The average price of the homes sold in Pulaski County was $196,374 in August 2013, down compared to $207,977 in August 2012. Year-to-date average prices were up from $189,070 in 2012 to $193,583 in 2013. The statewide year-to-date average was $159,615.

Pulaski County was in the top five counties in the state for most categories, second only to Benton County.
