Jacksonville’s Fletcher named 2014 Metroplan secretary

Jacksonville Mayor Gary Fletcher has been named secretary to the Metroplan 2014 Board of Directors.

The announcement was made recently as Metroplan elected its Board Officers for 2014 at its meeting on Dec. 18. Haskell Mayor Jeff Arey will serve as President, with Mayflower Mayor Randy Holland elected as Vice-President, and Ward Mayor Art Brooke as Treasurer.

“I am extremely honored to serve as Board President for 2014 and I want to express my gratitude to the entire board for their vote of confidence in me,” said Arey. “2014 will be an exciting year, I am looking forward to working with the Metroplan staff and the board as we continue with our Long Range Planning efforts utilizing Imagine Central Arkansas, I am also excited to see what opportunities come from the Jump Start Visioning Sessions.”

Incoming President Jeff Arey presented outgoing President Cabot Mayor Bill Cypert with an engraved gavel commemorating his year as President.

Metroplan is the federally designated metropolitan planning organization for the four-county region of Faulkner, Lonoke, Pulaski and Saline counties.

It is a voluntary association of local governments that has operated since 1955.

Imagine Central Arkansas is Metroplan’s current long-range plan update for the Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway metropolitan area.
