Jacksonville’s FestiVille starts on Friday

The Jacksonville Parks and Recreation Department will host FestiVille, a new and free community event, Friday and Saturday in Dupree Park at 1700 Redmond Road.

This new festival will feature carnival rides and games, food vendors, a fishing derby, 5k and 1k fun run, CAVBC volleyball tournament, a Canine Cutie Contest, Mr. & Miss FestiVille Pageant, exhibitor booths, entertainment and much more. Admission to the festival will be free. Rides and some activities may cost.

Kevin House, director of the Parks and Recreation department said, “We’re so excited to introduce the community to FestiVille. We’re packing as many diverse activities as we can into two days. Plus, our entertainment line-up — which will be at two different stages both Friday and Saturday — will be a great mix of Arkansas talent.”

The Mr. and Miss FestiVille Pageant is set for 9 a.m. at the park. The entry fee is $30 with a $15 photo fee and it is open to ages 0-18. For more information call Valerie at 529-3685.

A full schedule for FestiVille activities can be found at www.festiville.org. Some activities, including the Run the Ville 5k/1k, the fishing derby, Canine Cutie contest and Mr. & Miss FestiVille Pageant require entry forms. The forms are available at CityofJacksonville.net under the FestiVille tab or contact the Parks and Recreation department at 982-0818.
