The Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce has announced it is teaming up with the Jacksonville Wet/Dry Campaign Committee to collect signatures for the purpose of allowing the residents of Jacksonville to vote for the local option to sell alcohol.
The campaign committee is asking chamber members for volunteers.
“We are looking for section and street captains to help gather signatures,” stated the chamber in a press release.
Anyone wanting to volunteer to be a section or street captain should contact Phillip Carlisle at 982-3955, Ivory Tillman at 985-5282 or Tara Smith at 349-1119.
Persons supporting the initiative are promoting the effort as a way to bring jobs, revenue and progress to the Jacksonville area.
