Arkansas Highway Commission opens bids for installation of cable median barrier in Pulaski, Lonoke, Prairie and Monroe counties

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has opened bids for improvements to Interstate 40 in Pulaski, Lonoke, Prairie and Monroe counties.

The purpose of this project is to install Cable Median Barrier on 41.5 miles of various locations on Interstate 40 between North Little Rock and Brinkley. It is part of a project to install 500 miles of Cable Barrier by 2016.

Nationwide Construction Group of Chesterfield, Michigan, was awarded the contract $6.11 million.

Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting. The project should be complete in the summer of 2014, according to a press release issued by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.
