A business after hours has been set at Cooper Family Dentistry, 308 N. James St., from 5-7 p.m. on today.
Land of 1,000 Screams slated through October
A Haunted House known as “Land of 1,000 Screams” has been planned in Jacksonville this weekend and next from from 7 p.m. to midnight at 1930 W. Main St. just west of Country Kitchen. The Haunted House is located on the right side of Main. It is a Haunted House fundraiser sponsored by Jacksonville Gymnastics, Dance and Cheer Parents Association.

Cooper Family Dentistry plans tailgating event today
Cooper Family Dentistry is supporting the University of Arkansas Razorbacks football team in its battle against the Ole Miss Rebels. The Jacksonville dentist will be hosting an open house and tailgating event on today from 5-6 p.m. at their office at 308 N. James St. This event is a business after hours event in affiliation with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.
Fans are invited to enjoy free food, drinks and gifts. Cooper Family Dentistry and the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce will be giving away two Sonicare toothbrushes and Razorback memorabilia.
Pumpkin Patch Plunge set for Monday
The Pumpkin Patch Plunge, which is a fundraiser for the Jacksonville Boys and Girls Club, will be held on Monday from 6-8:30 p.m. at the Jacksonville Community Center. Admission is $5. Children ages 5-12 are invited to the community center pool to take a plunge for a chance to win toys, Splash Zone passes and more. For registration call 982-4171 or 982-0818. Peace, Love & Run benefit slated for Nov. 3
Peace, Love & Run Certified 5K Run benefiting Special Olympics Arkansas will be held Nov. 3 at Dupree Park in Jacksonville. The event is coordinated and sponsored by the Jacksonville Police Department with Co-sponsors Entergy of Arkansas, First Arkansas Bank & Trust, Crain Ford of Jacksonville, Huff-n-Puff Dance & Gymnastics, RYNO Towing and Recovery, Jax Gym of North Little Rock, Golden Corral, Gwatney Chevrolet and Edward Jones.
The Race offers race T-shirt, awards by age divisions, and overall winner, plus breakfast for race participants.
Preregistration is $25 for adults, $20 for students with valid identification. The fee is $30 on the day of the race.
Registration is from 6:30-7:30 a.m. on day of race with the run starting at 8 a.m.
St. Jude’s bazaar set for Nov. 10-11
St. Jude’s Catholic Church Bazaar will be held Saturday, Nov. 10 from 8 s.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 2403 McArthur Drive, Jacksonville. Saturday’s event will begin with donuts, coffee, and juice, soups, face painting, youth games, religious articles, linens, quilted, knitted, and handmade items, and homemade jams, jellies, and desserts. The day will end with a pulled pork plate dinner from 6-8 p.m.. Raffle tickets will be sold through the days for a television and other items. Sunday a full breakfast will be served from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
AFCU plans “bunko bash” for Dec. 1
Arkansas Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a “Bunko Bash” on Saturday, Dec. 1, with the doors opening at 4:30 p.m. at Landmark Baptist Church, 1701 General Samuels Road, Jacksonville. All proceeds benefit the Arkansas Children Hospital’s Children Miracle Network.
The price is $25 in advance and $30 at the door. There will be no refunds. There will be prizes, food, friends, charity and a silent auction. Checks may be payable to AFCU, Marketing Department, P.O. Fitness Association to hold certification workshop on Dec. 8
The Aerobics and Fitness Association of America will be holding primary group exercise certification workshops at the Jacksonville Community Center on Dec. 8-9 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The certification workshop will include lectures, practical demonstration and written and practical exams. The workshop also will include a one-year membership to the organization, which is a $68 value.
