Applications are due July 15 for the 2013 Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas $50,000 Energy Efficiency Makeover Contest.
To enter, people must complete an entry form, answer questions about their residence, submit a photograph of their home and be a cooperative member in good standing. Entry forms are available at www.firstelectric.coop and any First Electric office. To qualify, people must reside in Arkansas, be a member of a participating Arkansas electric cooperative and own and occupy an all-electric home.
Although only one electric cooperative member wins the overall contest, all are able to learn about energy efficiency and methods to help them live more comfortably while reducing their electric bills. In addition to the grand prizewinner, 16 runners-up will receive an Energy Star-approved GE GeoSpring Hybrid Electric Water Heater.
First Electric members who submit their applications for the statewide contest are entered into the cooperative’s $5,000 mini makeover contest. One member is selected from each of the cooperative’s five districts.
First Electric serves more than 88,000 active accounts throughout 17 counties in central and southeast Arkansas. The cooperative’s headquarters is located in Jacksonville with full-service offices in Benton, Heber Springs, Perryville and Stuttgart.
