City offices to be closed next week

In honor of Veterans Day on Wednesday, all city offices will be closed.

Garbage, trash and recycling routes will all run one day delayed as a result.

Also, the city’s leaf vacuum trucks have begun work around the city.

For the location of one of the trucks, call 371-8355. Bagged leaves will be picked up weekly.

Planning Commission meets Tuesday

The North Little Rock Planning Commission will meet at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall.

Nine items of new business are on the agenda, the bulk of which is for subdivision administrative business.

Of the two items of new business, one is for a special use permit at 300 W. 4th St. and the other is for conditional use permit at 1201 Parkway Drive.

Christmas Parade deadline nears

The North Little Rock Christmas parade is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. The rain date will be Sunday, Dec. 13. The theme for the parade this year is “Kaleidoscope Christmas.”

All clubs, organizations, schools, churches and businesses are encouraged to participate in the parade and incorporate a “non-traditional” Christmas color in their entry.

An entry form may be obtained by calling the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau at 501-758-1424 or by stopping by the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau in the Visitors Center located in Burns Park at exit 150 off I-40. All entries must have entertainment appeal by being in costume or decorated. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Pershing and Main and will continue down Main Street to Washington Avenue. There will be only one Santa Claus in the parade. The entry deadline is November 30.

Movie to be screened in NLR

The Clinton School of Public Service will be having a scholarship fundraiser in conjunction with the theatrical premier of “Warrior Champions: From Baghdad to Beijing.”

The event will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Lakewood Theater in North Little Rock.

The film was made by Craig and Brent Renaud, Little Rock brothers who are documentary filmmakers.

The film was produced by Vince Insalaco, who lives in North Little Rock, and is heavily involved in the film-making business.

Two of the soldiers featured in the film will also be on hand.

A&P Commission meeting delayed

The North Little Rock Advertising and Promotion Commission’s monthly meeting has been delayed by one week.

The meeting will now be held on Monday, Nov. 16 and it will start at 4 p.m.

Karen Trevino, the executive director, said scheduling conflicts for next Monday caused the rescheduling.

The agenda has not yet been announced, but reports on tax receipts, among other things, are expected.
